LOCATION: Whyalla. 4 hours from Adelaide, South Australia
TYPE OF PRACTICE: Small Animal Practice. Occasional horse.
CLOSING DATE: May 1 2009. International students may apply but travel to Australia and Visa are their responsibility.
DESCRIPTION: We have four positions each year for final year students to come and gain their small animal work experience at our practices during 2007. Students will work 1:1 under supervision of a qualified veterinary surgeon working up and treating cases. There will ample opportunity to further their surgical experience, especially in neutering of strays as part of our rehousing scheme.
The clinic in Whyalla has just been extensively renovated and the clinic in Roxby Downs is brand new. The practice is fully computerized, in-house idexx pathology and all the modern equipment you would expect in a progressive multi-clinic practice.
We have excellent, mature lay staff who can be relied upon and will provide an excellent resource for a veterinary student working at our practice .
The clinic has three outstation practices which add an interesting dimension to the work The position is based in Whyalla , a city of 20,000 that offers an excellent lifestyle with excellent fishing, boating, swimming and all other amenities of a medium sized coastal city.
WORK PERIOD: 2 to 8 weeks.
AFTER HOURS WORK: Yes. Expect to be called in to assist with emergencies.
FLIGHT AND ACCOMODATION: Provided for successful applicant. Domestic flight within Australia only.

You will need a letter from your supervising lecturer stating that you have permission to do this as part of your small animal (Cats and Dogs) practical experience to complete your final year subject. We will provide a report to your supervising lecturer.
