We treat work experience like a real job. You will be expected to be on time and reliable. Absence on any given day means you will be required to bring in a medical certificate the next working day or your work experience will be terminated.
JOB DESCRIPTION: We have several positions each year for year 11 and 12students to come and gain their work experience at our practices. Students will work under supervision of of the veterinary nurses and report directly to the practice manager.
Typical duties include cleaning of the clinic, equipment and instruments. Clean animal cages, pens and runs. Exercsing dogs. Filing and sorting records. There will be ample opportunity to observe the vets at work consulting and doing surgery.
The first week will involve training whilst during the second week we will expect the student to be able to carry out the tasks with minimun supervision.
WORK PERIOD: 2 to 4 weeks. Minimum of 2 weeks.
HOURS: Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm with an hour off for lunch at 1pm.
DRESS: Closed black or brown shoes. Navy or black trousers (Not jeans) and a neat shirt (Not a T shirt). During work experience students represent the clinic and should be attired properly.
