Wendy Ng in the Whyalla Newspaper here.

Melbourne University.

Whyalla Veterinary Clinic is one of the best placements I ever had. The staffs are very supportive and you got to work like a qualified vet!

If you are interested in surgery, Whyalla will be a good place for your electives! On the first day, I already had an opportunity to do castration all by myself! I was in charge of the anaesthetic, drug dose, and surgical procedures. The nurses will always be around to help and Andrew will be here if you encounter any problem. After 3 weeks time, spays and castrations have become a routine of my everyday procedure! I also got a chance to perform my first exploratory laparotomy and successfully removed 5 bladder stones! Other surgical procedures I did include abscess drainage, wound stitch up and IM pin removal. More

Another enjoyable part of the work here is doing consults. You will attend consults with Andrew, perform clinical exam, and work out the problem list, diagnostic plan, treatment and drug doses. The clinic is very busy and have long working hours, but as Andrew always say, it is good to familiarise yourself with the common things now, and use the time to work up more complicated cases in the future. The number and variety of cases in Whyalla Vet Clinic ranges from daily vaccination to internal medicine and surgical workup. Working here will give you an opportunity to learn a variety of knowledge!

One thing I must mention is the friendly and supportive staff in Whyalla Vet Clinic. They have the compassions for animals and the vets are always enthusiastic about their work. I started here as a shy student, and 3 weeks later, I am confident, competent and ready for my vet career!

Thank you so much Andrew for providing this valuable opportunity! It was great to work with the new vets Charna and Miranda, I had so much fun! And thank you Carol, Karen, Sharon, Lena, Natasha, Carol-ann, Amelia, Sky, Beck, Erica, Sharne, Keira for all the help! I must thank Sandi for providing a warm and cosy place to stay and yummy dinner every night after work!
