I first met Andrew when I came to Whyalla Veterinary Clinic for 3 weeks work-experience as a final year vet student in 2006. Since graduating, I have been working as a small animal veterinarian in Melbourne but was delighted and quickly accepted the invitation to complete a 2 week locum for Andrew earlier this year in February 2008.
As I descended from the light aircraft in Whyalla airport, I began to anticipate my time and the medical cases I will find here in this town. Within hours of landing, we received an urgent after-hours call for a GDV! After emergency surgery and ensuring that it was well on its way to recovery, I realized this was going to be a very demanding and interesting 2 weeks! This was to be the first and many of the varied cases I saw in my time there.
Once again I am impressed with the level of care and expertise the staff at the Whyalla Veterinary Clinic provided to their patients and clients. The nursing staff went out of their way to make me feel welcome and I will forever cherish their warm friendship. Andrew, as always, was more than happy to teach me new surgical techniques and was always open to discussions on new and current medical therapies. I found myself learning something new everyday and loved my time there
