"I found that there was adequate time to work up cases within the consultation, case continuity was encouraged and found Andrew very approachable to discuss cases if I had any queries." Rahul Shah
I arrived on 14th September fresh off the plane from the UK with some jet lag. The first few days were manic working from morning to evening nonstop and with the added stress of learning lots of new names and where things are kept. Now that is what I call a challenge! Somehow, I survived with the help of all the lovely experienced staff and multiple cups of cappuccino and will be eternally grateful. After that, things settled down, I started to remember some names (names are not my forte!) and started to really enjoy my time at the clinic.
I found that there was adequate time to work up cases within the consultation, case continuity was encouraged and found Andrew very approachable to discuss cases if I had any queries. In addition, I found all the staff were very friendly, helpful and I enjoyed working with all of them. I was very impressed with how much final year vet students improved their basic surgical skills under Andrew’s supervision.
The concept of the rehousing program that is run through the clinic, is a brilliant and was very satisfying to see so many strays finding new homes.
During my time off, I found Whyalla has good amenities and an excellent base to venture into the South Australian outback, which I highly recommend to visit. If you think yourself a bit of a wine connoisseur, unlike me whom is a Guinness drinker, the famous Barossa valley is just outside Adelaide, which is within reasonably easy driving distance.
