The Hon Bob McMullan served as senator from 1988 to 1996, when he was elected to the House of Representatives seat of Canberra. He held various ministries in the Hawke and Keating governments and was appointed Parliamentary Secretary for International Development Assistance following the election of the Rudd Government.

The best investment as we pursue millenium development goals is to educate women. The data is compelling that empowerment of women leads to economic development.

The SPRINT initiative [reproductive health kit for emergency situations, including contraceptive help] led to emails from the right to life movement.

In answer to a question, Bob McMullan will endeavour to find out if there is AusAID reproductive health funding going specifically to family planning rather than all being subsumed in Aids/STI programs and other health services.

There is an attempt being made to reduce deforestation in PNG, with other nations buying its carbon credits and returning this as income for those who are not cutting down forests.
