Small Animal Veterinarian required

LOCATION: Whyalla SA. Small Animal Veterinarian

Prefer experienced veterinarian but new graduates are encouraged to apply.

A vacancy exists for two full time vet to join our team of 4 vets, visiting surgeon and 20 lay staff in a busy small animal practice which is open 7 days a week. We provide our own after hours service and rotation on call is an integral part of providing our high level of care.

We are looking for someone with high customer skills who is very thorough and willing to work cases up to find solutions.

The clinic in Whyalla is a modern renovated clinic. The practice is fully computerized (4Vet), in-house idexx pathology, digital X-ray, 3M dental machine colour Doppler ultrasound, IV fluids pumps, Syringe pumps, extensive surgical equipment including a large amount of orthopaedic equipment (we currently do fracture repairs regularly), oxygen generators, Bair Hugger Warming Blankets, video microscopy, the list goes on .... all the modern equipment you would expect in a progressive practice.

There are is an outstation practice in Cowell, which add an interesting dimension to the work. A visiting surgeon comes every few weeks to handle our complex orthopaedic procedures and our vets take it in turns to assist him.

The position is based in Whyalla, a city of 24,000 that offers an excellent lifestyle with excellent fishing, boating, swimming and all other amenities of a medium sized coastal city. This is the place to escape the city rat race.

We are able to provide a high degree of support for the right new graduate veterinarian and have trained other graduates in the past.

We have excellent, mature lay staff that can be relied upon and will provide an excellent resource for a new vet joining the practice. In short we have a great team and looking for an enthusiastic vet to come and join us.

AFTER HOURS WORK AND WEEKENDS: Rota 1:4 and aiming for 1:5.

REMUNERATION: Above award salary is offered depending on the experience and skill of the veterinarian. Furnished house with internet is provided. Leave: 4 weeks’ annual leave and 1 week’s study leave pro rata. We actively encourage further education with time off and help with expenses. Veterinary registration fees are paid by the practice after each year of service. Pathway to partnership is also available for the right veterinarian.
