The Whyalla Veterinary Clinic has installed a 65-panel Jinko solar system, delivering a 33kW output, paired with three Sungrow SBR256 batteries offering 76.8kWh of storage. This setup ensures energy independence, powers the clinic’s 24/7 operations, and supports the charging of its electric vehicles (EVs) while delivering substantial environmental benefits.

By harnessing solar energy, the clinic significantly reduces reliance on fossil fuels, cutting greenhouse gas emissions. The 33kW system offsets an estimated 40-50 tons of CO2 annually, based on South Australia’s grid emissions factors, equivalent to planting 600-700 trees or removing 8-10 petrol-powered cars from the road each year. The battery storage optimizes energy efficiency by storing excess solar power for use during peak demand or overnight, minimizing grid reliance and further reducing emissions. This ensures uninterrupted, sustainable power for critical veterinary services.

Charging the clinic’s EVs with solar energy lowers transport-related emissions and operational costs, contributing to cleaner air and aligning with sustainable practices.Partially funded by a Small Business Energy Efficiency grant from the South Australian Government, this eco-friendly transition showcases how businesses can adopt renewable energy solutions. The Whyalla Veterinary Clinic sets an inspiring example for other local businesses to follow in reducing their environmental impact.
