Progesterone Testing for dog breeders
Results in one hour allowing determination of the optimal time to mate your bitch. Progesterone is a hormone produced by the ovaries and placenta that helps prepare and maintain the uterus for pregnancy.
Our inhouse canine progesterone is an in vitro diagnostic test kit for the quantitative measurement of canine progesterone in serum, providing fast and accurate results.
Measuring Progesterone in breeding dogs is used to:
- To determine optimal breeding dates.
- To predict parturition dates or time a Caesarean section.
- To detect reproductive disorders
When is the best time to mate your bitch?
We recommend that you start serial progesterone measurements 3 to 4 days after you see a bloody discharge from your dog’s vulva. Progesterone testing is continued every second day until the progesterone levels ovulation. Using these results, the vets will be able to recommend the best days to mate your bitch to take advantage of your dog’s peak fertility.
