Port Pirie Microchip Day 31st May 2009
Long lines at microchip day
Port Pirie had its first microchip day in a few years and a large number of people took advantage of the sunny weather to bring their dogs and cats to have them microchipped at a discount price of $25.00. There were so many pets waiting to be microchipped, that the day was extended by 2 hours to 4.30pm.
Veterinarian, Dr. Andrew Melville-Smith from Whyalla who consults at the Weeroona Island Veterinary Clinic in Telowie said he was amazed at the response ‘This is double the number of people we normally see at a microchipping day” he said “The line was so long at one time that people had a long wait, but they were all great about the wait and arrived at the head of the queue with a smile” Even the patients were above average “We had no problems with dogs” he commented “and every cat was well behaved”.
Describing the event as one of the best organised he had attended, Dr. Melville-Smith was impressed with the facilities “We had a few local volunteers, Zoe and Emmalee and they we just so helpful” he said “Special thanks to Ann Rudd for looking after us all so well with refreshments”.
